FROM THE PRESIDENT:
Well, that is exactly what the founders of the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan (CFOS) set out to do ~ only the returns and dividends are directed to local charitable organizations. With the support of many including the directors, volunteers, staff, financial supporters, donors and beneficiaries, the Founders of the Community Foundation have met and exceeded the challenge of inception and initial development. Our work has just begun and will continue to be never ending. Therein lays one of the mottos of community foundations: “For Good. For Ever” We now enter a time of transition and with mixed emotions we bid farewell to Anne Moss, our Founding Executive Director. We say “mixed emotions” because Anne is stepping down as our Executive Director and stepping into a seat as a Director. Anne led the staff of the community foundation for the first five years of its existence. Enormous challenges have been faced and met. There is no question that the CFOS would not be the organization that it is today without Anne’s leadership and contributions. For that we are eternally grateful. With enormous enthusiasm and expectation, we welcome the arrival of Karen VanHouten as the new Executive Director. While this Orange County native has never left the Hudson Valley, Karen has come home to Orange County to lead the Community Foundation to its next phase of growth and development. Karen brings to CFOS experience, creditability, commitment and a level of energy needed to maintain and enhance the momentum that has been developed over the first five years. Our dedication and commitment is to focus on donor services ~ thus our tagline of connecting people who care with causes that matter. In doing so we support in perpetuity the many charitable organizations and initiatives that help to make Orange County and the Hudson Valley one of the finest places in the world to call home. We extend our grateful appreciation to all those who have contributed to the growth and development of the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, and we look forward to your continued support.
